- ✓Not for commercial catering unless specifically approved
- ✓Not for waste incineration
- ✓Not for heating enclosed spaces
Guide
Before cooking
Prepare the product and cooking area before handling food.
- ✓Ensure the fire pit is correctly assembled
- ✓Place it on a stable, non-combustible surface
- ✓Confirm cooking accessories are securely installed
- ✓Clean all cooking surfaces before first use
- ✓Keep a suitable extinguisher, sand or water nearby for emergencies
Guide
Choosing your fuel
For stable temperatures, less smoke, better flavour and cleaner combustion, use dry seasoned hardwood, kiln-dried hardwood or high-quality natural charcoal where compatible.
Avoid damp or freshly cut wood because it produces excessive smoke and inconsistent heat.
Guide
Lighting the fire
Do not begin cooking immediately. Let the fire form a stable bed of glowing embers for more even heat and less smoke.
- ✓Place kindling in the centre of the fire bowl
- ✓Add small pieces of dry wood
- ✓Light with approved firelighters
- ✓Add larger logs gradually as the fire establishes
Guide
Managing cooking temperatures
Use high heat for steaks, burgers, sausages and quick-seared vegetables. Medium heat suits chicken, fish, kebabs, pork and larger vegetables. Low heat is useful for slow roasting, bread, pot cooking and keeping food warm.
- ✓Control heat by changing the amount of fuel
- ✓Spread embers evenly
- ✓Add wood gradually rather than all at once
Guide
Cooking safely
Never leave cooking food unattended.
- ✓Wear heat-resistant gloves
- ✓Use long-handled cooking utensils
- ✓Keep children away from the cooking area
- ✓Monitor food continuously
- ✓Do not lean directly over flames
Guide
Cooking accessories
Depending on the model, compatible accessories may include grill grates, cooking rings, flat plates, wok supports, pot supports, skewers and rotisserie attachments.
Only use accessories approved by MiFIRE or designed specifically for your model.
Guide
Food safety
Use hygienic food-handling practices whenever cooking outdoors.
- ✓Wash hands before handling food
- ✓Keep raw and cooked food separate
- ✓Use separate utensils for raw meat and cooked food
- ✓Keep perishable food refrigerated until required
- ✓Cook meat thoroughly according to food-safety recommendations
- ✓Do not return cooked food to an unwashed plate or utensil that held raw meat
Guide
Avoiding flare-ups
Fat dripping onto flames may cause flare-ups. Never extinguish a grease flare-up with water.
- ✓Trim excess fat where practical
- ✓Do not place heavily marinated food over intense flames
- ✓Move food temporarily away from a flare-up
Guide
Adding fuel during cooking
A consistent fire produces more even cooking results. Never use flammable liquids to increase the fire.
- ✓Add small amounts of fuel gradually
- ✓Allow new fuel to ignite before continuing to cook
- ✓Do not overload the fire bowl
Guide
Cooking in different weather
Wind, rain, low temperatures and high humidity can affect outdoor cooking. Strong wind may increase flame intensity and make cooking unpredictable.
If conditions become unsafe, extinguish the fire and discontinue use.
Guide
After cooking
Allow all hot components and ash to cool safely.
- ✓Remove food promptly
- ✓Allow accessories to cool naturally
- ✓Do not immerse hot metal in cold water
- ✓Clean accessories after every use
- ✓Remove ash only when completely cold
Guide
Cleaning cooking surfaces
Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that may damage the cooking surface.
- ✓Remove food residue with a suitable grill brush
- ✓Wash removable accessories with warm water and mild detergent
- ✓Dry thoroughly before storage
- ✓Lightly oil cast-iron components where appropriate
Guide
Caring for your fire pit
Regular maintenance improves performance and extends product life. See the Product Care & Maintenance Guide for detailed advice.
- ✓Remove ash after each use
- ✓Inspect for loose components
- ✓Keep drainage holes clear
- ✓Use a weatherproof cover when not in use
- ✓Store removable accessories indoors where possible
Guide
Responsible outdoor fire use
Respect your neighbours and the environment. Always ensure the fire is completely extinguished before leaving.
- ✓Burn only dry wood
- ✓Do not overload the fire
- ✓Never burn prohibited materials
- ✓Follow local fire regulations
Guide
Troubleshooting
For excessive smoke, use dry hardwood, reduce the fuel load and improve airflow. For uneven cooking, spread embers evenly, allow flames to settle and reposition accessories. If food burns too quickly, wait for glowing embers, move or raise the cooking surface where possible, and reduce fuel.
- ✓Excessive smoke: wet wood, poor airflow or too much fuel
- ✓Uneven cooking: uneven embers, an oversized fire or misplaced accessories
- ✓Food burning quickly: excessive direct flame or cooking too close to the fire
